Radiant Beginnings: Prepping Your Hair and Skin for the Perfect Wedding Glow

Updated: Sep 19, 2023

Your wedding day is undoubtedly one of the most significant milestones in your life. From the dazzling dress to the impeccable venue, every detail should reflect the love and joy you're celebrating. Yet, amidst all the planning and excitement, it's easy to forget one crucial aspect: yourself. Your hair and skin deserve just as much attention as any other element of your special day.

As you embark on this unforgettable journey, it's essential to ensure that you not only look your best but also feel confident and radiant. That's why we've gathered a treasure trove of tips, tricks, and expert advice to help you prep your hair and skin for your wedding day. With careful planning and the right care, you can achieve a timeless, picture-perfect look that will be cherished in your memories and photographs for years to come.

ONE YEAR - SIX MONTHS PRE-WEDDING

  • Establish a skincare regimen. You don't need to have a 7 step routine to maintain supple skin- a cleanser, exfoliator, and moisturizer targeted towards your skin type will do the trick!

  • See an esthetician for monthly, professional grade treatments. Dermaplaning and Hydrofacials are a tall drink of water for your skin.

  • Start searching for hair and makeup inspo. It's beneficial for you to look for photos that contain brides with similar features to yours.

FOUR MONTHS PRE-WEDDING

  • Now is the time to decide on your wedding day hair color. Plan to get at least one more color or highlight refresh before the big day. Subtle highlights add beautiful depth and dimension to all hair styles.

  • Schedule your spray tan trial during this time. (I offer these!)

  • If you're considering lash extensions or any other beauty treatments like brow lamination or brow tinting, do so during this time. It will give your hair a chance to fully grow out so that you can get a fresh touch up or lash set prior to wedding day.

  • Plan to do your hair and makeup preview around this month mark this way you can get the closest look to how it will be executed on wedding day.

  • Order your hair extensions to have on hand during your preview.

SIX WEEKS PRE-WEDDING

  • Begin to book your wedding week appointments: Nails, one last hydrating facial, waxing/hair removal, spray tan etc. You should plan on your spray tan being done about two days prior to your wedding.

  • Avoid trying any new beauty products or treatments during this time. We don't want you skin to have any sensitivities or reactions this close to wedding day!

  • I highly recommend you avoid a lash lift if you plan on wearing false lashes on wedding day. While they're a great alternative to extensions, the tight curl makes it nearly impossible to apply lashes on top of!

  • Get one final hair trim. Discuss with your wedding stylist if layers are a fit for your style.

  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

TWO WEEKS PRE-WEDDING

  • Time to get excited!!

  • Now is the time to get one last facial and brow wax. Opt for a hydrating facial with no harsh exfoliation.

  • It's inevitable, but pre wedding breakouts may happen! If you notice any unwanted friends pop up, don't pop any blemishes. Instead, grab a pimple patch and wear it over night to eliminate inflammation.

  • You should get one final hair color refresh.

  • Limit sun exposure to prevent harsh tan lines and sunburns.

  • Continue to hydrate!

WEDDING EVE

  • It's heeeeere!!

  • Wash and blow dry your hair or treat yourself to a blowout in a salon. I also offer blowouts! For extra hold, use a bit of volumizing mousse at your roots prior to blow drying- we love this one by Kenra.

  • Prep your hair the way your stylist discussed with you at your preview. Your hair needs to be 100% dry and clean prior to your artists' arrival.

  • Gently exfoliate your skin once more, and be sure to hydrate your skin and lips. I love the Laneige Overnight Lip Mask.

  • Hydrate!

By following these tips and incorporating a proper skincare and haircare routine into your wedding prep, you can ensure that you'll radiate confidence and beauty from the inside out when you say "I do." So, take the time to pamper yourself, stay consistent with your routines, and enjoy the process. Your wedding day will be a celebration of love and commitment, and with glowing skin and stunning hair, you'll be ready to shine and create memories that will last a lifetime. Cheers to your happily ever after!"
